5 Places Around the World, Reminiscent of Tolkien's World
In honour of the release of Dome Karukoski's new film Tolkien, Wanderous Affair's editor-in-chief, Emily Fata, put together a list of five places she's encountered around the world that are reminiscent of Middle-earth. Just one of millions of people captivated by the immersive fantastical imagination of J.R.R. Tolkien, it's unsurprising that I am excited for the upcoming North American release of the film 'Tolkien' on May 10th. Although I love Peter Jackson's cinematic rendit

Winter in Edmonton
Winter in Canada's west is not only one of the prettiest experiences you can have, but also one of the most fun places to spend these cold months. Edmonton is packed with many things to do in January that can be enjoyed at any age, across the city as a whole. Today's post by Wanderous Affair's editor-in-chief outlines just a few of her favourite activities during her recent stay in the City of Champions. “Winter in Edmonton”… now there’s a title I never thought that I would b

Cruising Through Drumheller's Wild West Badlands
During her time in the province of Alberta this summer, Wanderous Affair's editor-in-chief, Emily Fata, took a day trip to the town of Drumheller with two of her cousins. Thanks to the award-winning Wild West Badlands Tours, they made the most of exploring this incredible landscape. While staying with my cousins in Edmonton for nearly two months this summer, it was no surprise that we had a multitude of day trips planned together. I had spent three weeks in the city in 2017,

Discovering the Greater Toronto Area by Zodiac Sign
After reading an article about travelling based on one's zodiac sign, adventurist Sonja Slijepcevic found herself exploring the small neighbourhood of Port Credit, a short drive from the city of Toronto. She delves into this beautiful lakeside community, including her favourite restaurant to eat at while visiting. “You should take a trip, based on your zodiac sign,” suggested Lindsay Tiger in her September article (“The trip you should take this fall, based on your zodiac sig

Manitoulin Island: Ontario’s Best-Kept Secret
If you’re not from Northern Ontario, then you probably aren’t familiar with Manitoulin Island. For Cortney Gilchrist though, this is the place she cannot wait to spend her spring and summers every year. Here are some highlights of exploring this beautiful island. Alberta Prairie Railway: From Stettler to Big Valley
Last month, during my time in Edmonton, I went on the Alberta Prairie Railway excursion with my family from Stettler to Big Valley. Here are some details of my incredible experience. Last month, during my time in Edmonton, I went on the Alberta Prairie Railway excursion with my family, from Stettler to Big Valley. Shortly after I arrived in Alberta for my month-and-a-half long trip, I heard from my family as well as a few others that the Railway Excursions were a must-see whi

Broadway Across Canada's Les Misérables
I had the pleasure of seeing Broadway Across Canada's production of Les Misérables in Edmonton, Alberta a couple of weeks back. Here is my review of the amazing musical! From the very first powerful notes of Overture/Work Song, Broadway Across Canada (BAC)'s production of Les Misérables immediately sent goosebumps up my arms and neck. I sat on the edge of my seat, my lips mouthing the words of each song as one number led into the next. Despite having never seen Les Mis perfor

70 Years of Dior at the Royal Ontario Museum
A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of going to the ROM Speaks event at the Royal Ontario Museum with one of my favourite ladies, Émeraude. I talk more about the beautiful first decade of Dior's fashion in today's post. The Best of Alberta
Looking back at one of my favourite trips *ever*, exploring the province of Alberta with my cousins was a highlight of 2017. I talk about all of the amazing things to do, see, and explore in this beautiful part of Canada. At the very beginning of summer 2017, between June and July, I travelled across Canada from Toronto, Ontario to Edmonton, Alberta to visit with my cousins for nearly three weeks. This was my first time travelling there, as well as going so far out of provinc

Camp 30
One of the coolest places to explore in the eastern part of the Great Toronto Area, Camp 30 is an abandoned WWII POW camp that's filled with an eerie history and countless photo ops. It was summertime when I went to the eerie Camp 30 in Bowmanville with a couple of my friends. Camp 30 was a school for delinquent boys that was converted to a POW camp for Nazi officers during WWII. After the war, it was used a private training school, a Catholic secondary school, and then as Da

Free Falling (Kinda)
A couple years ago, my dad took us to iFly Toronto a the coolest Christmas gift EVER! Check out today's post for more information on what it was like, and how you can book a package for yourself. As an early Christmas present back in 2015, my dad took us to iFLY Toronto (actually on the border of Mississauga and Oakville) to go indoor skydiving. It was such a cool experience! My best friend had gone about five years ago in Montréal and ever since I heard about it, I've been w

Packing for a Domestic Trip
While planning my trip to Alberta to visit my cousins, I compiled a list of must-haves while travelling on a domestic flight. Check it out in today's post! While planning my trip to Edmonton to visit my cousins, I compiled a list of must-haves while travelling on a domestic flight with Air Canada, within Canada, and it’s been fairly easy to sort out. I have a serious problem when it comes to condensing my wardrobe into just a personal item, a carry-on bag, and a single luggag

Veg Food Fest 2017
I have been planning on attending Toronto's Veg Food Fest for years now, always interested in any place that offers the chance to try new varieties of food. This year, I had the opportunity to go not as a spectator, but as someone who was able to work one of the best booths. Vintage Prom
Create a blog post subtitle that summarizes your post in a few short, punchy sentences and entices your audience to continue reading. This was an event that I was beyond excited for: the Third Annual Vintage Prom, hosted at the Great Hall located at 1087 Queen Street West. I was so into it that I actually made my own dress (with the help of my nonna, of course) by tweaking a 1957 Vogue pattern to look like a gown Grace Kelly once wore. The dress turned out amazingly and I was

Toronto City Pass
Here's a look into the benefits of and excursions included in the Toronto CityPass. Let me begin simply by saying that the Toronto CityPass is definitely worth the money spent, if you are visiting Toronto. Last July, my cousins from Edmonton came to visit and we immediately set out to get the pass, so that I could take them touring around the city. You save a total of (just more than) 40% off regular general admission price for five of Toronto's top attractions, places I woul
